The short version
- The plugin is free software under the GPL, and these terms do not change that. Whatever rights the GPL gives you in the code, you keep.
- These terms cover the things around the code — this website, your account, licence keys, and the service that issues them.
- Essentials is free and stays free, and it works without an account.
- Paid plans are sold by a payment company acting as the seller, not directly by us.
- Your data is on your server and staying there — which also means backups are yours.
- We limit our liability, as software is normally licensed. We do not limit it where the law says we cannot.
The rest of this page is the actual agreement.
1. These terms, and what they apply to
These Terms of Service (the Terms) are an agreement between you and us — the person and business identified at the top of this page.
They apply when you:
- use this website,
invflux.com; - register an account or a licence for InvFlux;
- buy, activate or use a paid plan or add-on;
- use the InvFlux licensing service at
license.invflux.com.
"You" means you personally if you are acting for yourself, and the business you represent if you are acting for one — in which case you confirm you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf.
If you do not agree with these Terms, do not register an account and do not use the licensing service. You may still use the free software; see the next section.
2. The software is free software, and these Terms do not touch that
InvFlux for WooCommerce is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later (GPLv2+). That licence governs the code: your right to run it, study it, modify it, and redistribute it, for any purpose, is granted by the GPL and is not conditional on these Terms.
Nothing in this document restricts, overrides or adds conditions to the rights the GPL gives you. If any clause here were ever read as conflicting with the GPL in respect of the code, the GPL wins and the conflicting clause simply does not apply to the code.
What these Terms do govern is everything that is not the code:
- this website and its content;
- your account with us and the licence keys we issue;
- the licensing service — a service we operate and pay for;
- the commercial relationship for paid plans.
Put plainly: you can do whatever the GPL permits with the software. You cannot help yourself to our servers, our licence keys, or our brand.
3. Accounts and registration
You can run the free plugin, in full, without an account and without registering anything. Registration is optional and exists so we can issue you a licence and reach you about it.
If you do register:
- Give us an email address you actually control. We use it to confirm the registration and to tell you about your licence — it is how we reach you, and a wrong address means you will miss things that matter.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping your licence keys to yourself.
- Tell us promptly at support@invflux.com if you believe someone else has got hold of your account or a licence key.
- One account is for one customer. Do not share an account across unrelated businesses.
We may suspend or close an account that is being used to break these Terms, and we will tell you why.
4. Essentials — the free plan
Essentials is free, and there is no time limit, feature countdown or usage cap hiding behind that word. It does not expire and it does not become read-only. You do not need to register to use it, and registering it costs nothing.
Two honest qualifications:
- Free means free of charge, not frozen. We may change what the plugin does from one release to the next, as any software does. But what shipped, shipped: every version you already have remains yours under the GPL, and nothing we do later reaches back and disables software already on your server.
- Free comes without a service commitment. There is no uptime guarantee, no guaranteed response time, and no warranty. See sections 9, 14 and 15.
5. Paid plans and add-ons — and who you are buying from
Paid plans and add-ons unlock additional functionality and are sold as a subscription.
You buy from a Merchant of Record, not directly from us. Checkout is operated by a payment company that acts as the seller of record for the transaction — currently Creem for customers in the EU, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and Dodo Payments for other markets. Which one serves you depends on your region.
This matters practically:
- They are the seller. They take the payment, they handle sales tax or VAT, and they issue your invoice or receipt. Their own terms apply to the payment transaction, and you accept them at checkout.
- We are the licensor. Your right to use the paid functionality, your licence seats, and everything in these Terms comes from us.
- We never receive your card details. See our Privacy Policy.
If their terms and ours ever disagree about the payment itself, theirs govern the payment; ours govern the licence.
6. Prices, billing and renewal
- Prices are shown at checkout, in your currency where we can, and inclusive or exclusive of tax as indicated there. The Merchant of Record adds any tax it is required to collect.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price for your plan, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time — see section 7.
- If we raise the price of a plan, your existing subscription keeps its rate for as long as it stays active and continuously paid. If a price you hold is ever locked in that way, we record it against your licence, and it is not quietly re-priced at the next renewal.
- If we do change what you pay, we will email you at least 30 days before the renewal it would first apply to, so you can cancel first if you would rather.
- If a payment fails, we allow a grace period before the licence lapses, and we will email you. During grace, everything keeps working.
7. Cancelling, and refunds
Cancelling. You can cancel a subscription at any time, and you keep the paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not pro-rate a partial period, and cancelling does not delete your account or your data — the plugin drops back to Essentials and your inventory keeps working.
Refunds. If a paid plan is not what you needed, tell us within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund it in full. You do not need to justify it.
After that window we do not refund as a matter of course, but if something is genuinely broken on our side we will make it right — write to billing@invflux.com and talk to us before disputing a charge. Refunds are paid back through the Merchant of Record that took the payment, to the method you paid with.
Where consumer law gives you a stronger right to withdraw or be refunded than this section does, that law applies and this section does not cut it down.
8. Licence seats and moving between sites
A paid licence is bound to the site it is activated on, and covers:
- one production site, plus
- up to five non-production sites — staging, development, local copies.
The plugin reports two environment signals at activation so a staging copy is recognised as non-production and does not consume your production seat. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what those signals are.
Moving to another site is self-service and free. Deactivate the licence on the old site — from InvFlux → Licenses & Add-ons — and it frees the seat immediately for the new one. You do not need to ask us, and there is no transfer limit.
What you may not do is share one licence across sites belonging to different businesses, or hand your key to someone else so they can activate it. If you need to cover several client sites, that is what additional seats are for.
9. The licensing service, and what happens when it is not there
We aim to keep the licensing service running, but it is offered as-is and without an uptime guarantee. We may take it down for maintenance, change how it works, or move it.
Because we know a licence server is a single point of failure that other software has used badly, we built for its absence:
- Your inventory features do not depend on it. Everything Essentials does keeps working whether or not the service is reachable — the plugin does not check in to let you sell.
- A paid licence is cached and honoured through an outage. Your entitlement is stored on your own site and keeps being honoured while the service is unreachable — currently for 30 days past the point it would otherwise need renewing, rather than switching off the moment one request fails. You get a non-blocking notice well before that runs out.
- A failed licence check never breaks your site. It is a background request that is allowed to fail quietly.
If we ever discontinued the licensing service entirely, we would give paid customers notice and would not leave you with software that stops working because a server of ours went away.
10. Acceptable use
When using our website, our licensing service or our account system, do not:
- try to break, overload, probe or gain unauthorised access to them;
- use a licence key you were not issued, or evade seat limits — including by forging the environment signals to make a production site look like staging;
- resell, sublicense or redistribute licence keys or account access (redistributing the software is a GPL right, and this bullet does not touch it);
- use our name, logo or brand in a way that suggests we endorse, supply or support something we do not;
- use the service to do something illegal, or to infringe someone else's rights.
11. Your site, your data, your backups
The plugin runs on your server, and your data — products, stock, movements, suppliers, orders — stays in your WordPress database. We have no copy of it and no access to it.
The other side of that is: backups are your responsibility. We cannot restore your data, because we do not have it. InvFlux becomes the record of your stock, so treat its tables the way you treat the rest of your store — back the database up, and test a restore before you need one.
You are also responsible for running a supported environment (a supported WordPress, WooCommerce, PHP and MySQL/MariaDB, with HPOS enabled), and for testing an update on a staging copy before applying it to a live store. We publish what each release changes; we cannot test against your particular combination of plugins.
12. Support
- Essentials: support is community-based and best-effort, through the plugin's support forum on WordPress.org. We read it, and we answer what we can. No response time is promised.
- Paid plans: email support at support@invflux.com. We aim to reply within two business days. That is a target we work to, not a contractual service level.
We support the current version of the plugin against currently supported versions of WordPress, WooCommerce and PHP. Support does not cover code you have modified, conflicts caused by other plugins we cannot reproduce, or bespoke development.
13. Changes — to the software, and to these Terms
The software. We add, change and occasionally remove features. Where we remove or materially change something you are likely to be relying on, we say so in the release notes.
These Terms. We may update them. The date at the top of this page always shows when. If a change materially affects your rights or what you pay, we will email registered users at least 30 days before it takes effect, and for a paid subscription the change applies from your next renewal — not mid-period. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept it; if you do not, cancel, and we will refund the unused part of the period you have paid for.
14. Warranty disclaimer
The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. This is the ordinary position for GPL software and it is stated in the GPL itself.
We do not warrant that the software is free of defects, that it will meet your requirements, that it will work uninterrupted, or that it is compatible with every other plugin, theme or host.
Nothing here excludes a warranty or right that the law does not permit us to exclude — in particular where you deal with us as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
15. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — including lost profit, lost sales, lost or inaccurate data, business interruption, or the cost of substitute software — even if we were told such loss was possible.
- Where we are liable, our total liability is capped at the amount you actually paid us for the plan in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim. If you paid nothing, our liability is limited to CHF 100.
These limits do not apply, and we do not seek to exclude our liability, for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- our own gross negligence or wilful misconduct — which Swiss law does not permit to be excluded in advance (Art. 100 of the Swiss Code of Obligations);
- anything else the applicable law does not allow to be limited, including mandatory consumer protections where you deal with us as a consumer.
16. Term and termination
These Terms apply for as long as you have an account or an active licence with us.
You may stop at any time: cancel your subscription, un-register the site, or ask us to close your account.
We may suspend or terminate your account or licence if you materially break these Terms — in particular section 10 — or if we are legally required to. Except where the breach is serious or the law leaves us no choice, we will tell you what the problem is and give you a fair chance to put it right first. If we terminate without cause, we refund the unused part of what you have paid.
On termination, the paid features stop and the plugin returns to Essentials. Your site, your database and your inventory data are untouched — they were never ours to take away. Sections 11, 14, 15, 18 and 19 survive.
17. Names that are not ours
WooCommerce and WordPress are the trademarks of their respective owners. InvFlux is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Automattic, WooCommerce, or the WordPress Foundation. We name them only to describe what our software works with.
Likewise, naming Creem or Dodo Payments describes who processes a payment; it is not a claim that they endorse us.
18. Governing law and where disputes go
These Terms are governed by Swiss law, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
The courts of the place identified at the top of this page have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute — except that if you deal with us as a consumer, you keep the benefit of the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in the courts there.
Before going to court, please email legal@invflux.com. Most things are a misunderstanding, and we would much rather fix it than argue about it.
19. General
- Severability. If a clause is held invalid or unenforceable, the rest stands, and that clause is read down to the extent needed to make it valid.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent — though you may of course move your licence between your own sites under section 8. We may transfer them to a successor if the business is sold or reorganised, on notice to you.
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and anything specific to a plan you have bought, are the whole agreement between us on this subject, and replace anything said beforehand.
- Language. These Terms are written in English. A translation is offered for convenience; the English version governs.
